Every Muslim who does not strive for Islamic Union is responsible for the millions of innocent people in the Islamic world suffering oppression

In his nightly live interviews on local stations, Mr. Adnan Oktar frequently brings up the sufferings of our Muslim brothers. But these calls by Mr. Oktar to the Islamic world are nothing new. Mr. Oktar also refers to the sufferings taking place in Islamic lands and our martyred brothers in his book “The Winter of Islam and the Spring to Come,” published in July 2001, and articles published on the net and in newspapers for many years. Mr. Oktar calls on the entire Muslim world to support the work going on in that regard and has many times emphasized the fact that turning a blind eye to repression is itself repression. It must not be forgotten that every Muslim who does not strive for Turkish-Islamic Union bears a responsibility for every drop of blood spilled in Islamic lands, every house demolished, every innocent person injured or crippled and for every person living in hunger and poverty.

A great many people know nothing about what is going on in Pakistan, Kashmir, Pattani, Burma or East Turkestan. Many have never even heard these places’ names. They are unaware of the oppression, suffering, daily acts of violence, hunger and poverty faced by Muslims in these regions. Others, however, are aware of this oppression and injustices. But it never even crosses their minds to help these people or strive to put an end to the persecution. Moreover, they have so convinced themselves there is nothing they can do that neither the reports they read nor the images they see touch their conscience in any way. The fact is, however, that every believer has a responsibility for everything he sees. As Allah tells Muslims in the Qur’an:

“What reason could you have for not fighting in the Way of Allah-for those men, women and children who are oppressed and say, 'Our Lord, take us out of this city whose inhabitants are wrongdoers! Give us a protector from You! Give us a helper from You!'? (Surat an-Nisa': 75)

The aim in preparing this article is to reveal the situation confronting innocent Muslims all across the world and to call on people of good conscience to think about this and seek solutions to it. The time we are living in is not one for heedlessness, remaining silence, inertia, busying oneself with the short-term concerns of this world or killing time with earthly arguments and disputes. It is incompatible with good conscience, at a time when Muslims are suffering such oppression, not to strive to spread the moral values of Islam. And there is no doubt that this will bring with it a heavy burden in the Hereafter.

PAKISTAN

More than 2.5 million Muslims had to abandon their homes because of the conflict in the Pakistani region of Swat in May, 2009. Two million of these sought shelter in refugee camps. With the end of the conflict, some have begun returning to their homes in recent months. However, more than 1.5 million Muslims are still struggling to survive in refugee camps. Hundreds of thousands of people are still living in tents in the freezing cold of winter and burning heat of summer; under conditions in which food is hard to find; there is insufficient water for drinking and hygiene and epidemic diseases cost many of them their lives. The situation of our Muslim brothers who have had to abandon their homes is so difficult that those who reach the camps we are describing still see themselves as having attained salvation. That is because some of those forced from their homes have disappeared and others have had to settle in very poor regions living on the hunger line, where no aid manages to reach them.

KASHMIR

The clashes in Kashmir over the last 2.5 months have cost the lives of 140 Muslims. The recent death of a 17-year-old struck in the chest by a gas bomb launched by the Indian police caused the people of Kashmir to pour onto the streets in protest. The Indian police are trying to use force to suppress these protests. Our hope is that the region will calm down very soon without further loss of life or property, and that a climate will be built in which Kashmiri Muslims can live in peace and comfort.

The Indian sub-continent was under British rule until the end of the Second World War. After the British left, Indian Muslims founded Pakistan. A large number of Muslims living within the borders of India then migrated to Pakistan. Yet although the region of Kashmir known as “Jammu and Kashmir” lying on the borders of India, Pakistan and China had a 67% Muslim population, by way of various tricks and intrigues on the part of Indian politicians, it remained under Indian rule. Ever since then, the 4 million or so Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir, according to 2001 counts, have been exposed to pressure and oppression from the Indian administration.

The Muslims of Kashmir sought to escape this oppression and attain independence, but they were subjected to terrible slaughter by Indian forces in 1947, 1965 and 1971 because of these demands. Tens of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims were martyred in these massacres and more than 4,000 women were tortured and raped.

In the 1990s, the Indian government stepped up the oppression; thousands of Muslims were detained for no reason and martyred by torture. Homes were looted and schools and newspapers providing Islamic education were closed down. The oppressive administration went still further, opening dam gates and flooding Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan, thus causing the deaths of thousands of people and terrible physical damage in the region as a whole. It is a known fact that to date some 80,000 Muslims have been martyred in Kashmir, that thousands have been maltreated in Indian prisons and that nothing has been heard from a further 10,000. There can be no doubt that the main cause of this persecution of the people of Kashmir, the acts of violence, the detentions for no reason, the torture and the economic embargoes is that the people of Kashmir are Muslims. They are trying to stop Muslims uniting and becoming stronger by the use of these repressive methods

THE KASHGAR REGION OF EAST TURKESTAN

Readers will remember that in July, 2009 oppression, pressure and slaughter were executed on the people of East Turkestan in a deliberate and organized manner. As a consequence of incidents provoked using various pretexts, thousands of Uighur citizens were massacred in full view in the streets. Special images of this slaughter were published on our web site.

China is now using another matter, which would probably prepare the ground for new slaughters, as a pretext. As we have already described, Kashgar, the ancient capital of East Turkestan largely populated by Uighur Turks is practically under the siege of the Chinese troops. The city is being bulldozed and the East Turkestan inhabitants are forced out from it. The Chinese government has offered the almost unbelievable pretext that the city of Kashgar might collapse in the event of an earthquake as a justification for this demolition. The fact is that the city, which dates back some 2500 years, is a very ancient one with countless historic artifacts more than 1000 years old. The historic artifacts there have been exposed to earthquakes and natural disasters many times over the centuries, and have never come to any harm. It is therefore quite illogical to cite earthquakes as an excuse for demolishing these historic works. In addition, if precautions were to be taken against earthquakes, what would then need to be done is to strengthen and reinforce existing buildings and structures. The annihilation of all the historic artifacts of a city for the purposes of precautions against earthquakes is something that has never been seen before and is utterly incomprehensible. This is therefore no explanation for the Uighur Turks being forced off the lands of their ancestors.

Consequently it is quite evident that the Chinese government is using this pretext as an excuse. The Chinese government clearly wants to turn Kashgar into a Chinese city and to eliminate the Uighur Turks from there and eradicate the Turkish-Islamic culture there. If Chinese people chose to live in Kashgar of their own free will, the Uighur Turks would have no objection to that. The Uighur Turks are moderate, warm, affectionate, modest and pleasant people, as required by the moral values of the Qur’an, and harbor no enmity toward the Chinese.

They are not unhappy at the idea of living together and enjoying neighborly relations with them. What is going on here, however, is that the Uighur Turks’ homes are being demolished and they are being forced from their lands by the Chinese administration, and other people are being forced to migrate there from other regions of China. Such a policy is obviously incompatible with the law, democracy and the fundamental human rights. This is clearly a policy of enforced displacement and exile. Those who are unwilling to leave their homes suffer terrible persecution. All European states and America must take action and raise the issue as a matter of urgency, rather than just watching this unjust policy of savagery in China. A mass public reaction would show that China cannot just act as it likes and the policy of repression in question would come to an end in its tracks without getting any further. The United Nations, European Union and all world bodies, charities and individuals must take urgent steps on this matter.

Mr. Adnan Oktar Explains:

Hazrat Mahdi (as) Will Also Be Oppressed before Emerging into the Open

“I am now saying that this has to happen. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will not appear without it. This blood will be shed and these things will happen. Afghanistan will be invaded, Iraq will be occupied and oppression will grow. The pressure on Hazrat Mahdi (as) himself will also rise. Hazrat Mahdi (as) will personally be tortured. Our Prophet’s (saas) eyes filled with tears as he described it. “He turned pale,” the hadith says. “They will persecute and torture my Ahl al-Bayt,” he says in reference to Hazrat Mahdi (as). They ask our Prophet (saas) and the holy one turns pale. Our Prophet (saas) loved Hazrat Mahdi (as) very much. He loved him, and always spoke of him with love. (From Mr. Adnan Oktar’s interview on 26 July 2010 on Adıyaman ASU TV)

Not a Single Muslim Will Be Harmed When Turkish-Islamic Union Is Established

ADNAN OKTAR: When Turkish-Islamic Union is established, when Hazrat Mahdi (as) is its spiritual leader, do you think it will be possible to harm a hair on a Muslim’s head?

OKTAR BABUNA: Impossible. They could not even think of it, insha’Allah.

ADNAN OKTAR: Will demolishing houses be possible? Will it be possible to fill the prisons? Or to cut people’s throats like animals? It is unthinkable. Or to mock the Prophets, may Allah forbid? Europe will turn a deaf ear until we have Turkish-Islamic Union. It will not listen to our asking them for compassion. There is a strength bestowed by Allah. Look, Almighty Allah says, Unite, and nobody can defeat you. But if we are divided, He says He will inflict them on us like a plague. There are many verses of the Qur’an on that subject. And that is what has happened. Allah tells us not to be divided. “Hold fast to the rope of Allah all together, and do not separate.” He says. “Allah loves those who strive in His Way in ranks like well-built walls.” He tells the believers to strive together . “Strive together” He tells us. “do not quarrel among yourselves” says Allah, “your momentum disappear” Allah has made that unlawful. (From Mr. Adnan Oktar’s live interview on 20 February 2010 on Gaziantep Olay TV)

PALESTINE

For half a century now, Palestinian Muslims have been ejected from their homes with no justification even being offered, and have been shot and attacked, have seen their homes demolished and their fields and gardens torn up, and been subjected to torture and violence. What is going on in Palestinian lands reveals that there is a terrible genocide being carried out by the atheist zionist Israeli administration.

Very few of the attacks on and bombings of women, young people and children in Palestine are reported by the world media.

In Palestine, 70 percent of whose population consists of young people, children have experienced exile, detentions, imprisonment and slaughter ever since the occupation in 1948. They have been treated as second-class citizens in their own land, and learned to resist, even under the most intolerable conditions. Half of those who lost their lives in the Intifada which started with Ariel Sharon's provocative visit to the Dome of the Rock in October 2000 were under age 16. Sixty percent of those injured were less than 18. At least five children a day still die in those regions where the conflict continues, and more than 10 are injured.

According to a Palestine Health Organization report, 34 percent of the more than 400 people killed during the Aqsa Intifada were under age 18. The important thing, however, is that 47 percent of the dead were people who did not take part in the demonstrations or clashes. Thirty-eight percent of those injured on the West Bank were hit by real bullets, and 75 percent of those in the upper parts of their bodies. In the Gaza Strip, 40 percent were injured by real bullets, and 61 percent of them in the upper body, in other words in the chest. The total number of wounded exceeded 10,000. Some 1,500 people suffered permanent disabilities. The hospitals where these people were being treated were also frequently attacked.

All these statistics point to one clear fact: atheist zionists inside the Israeli administration are engaged in a conscious and systematic policy of the elimination of the Palestinian people. The above figures show that Israeli troops did not use their weapons to remove a threat to public security, but to kill and maim.

When the Turkish-Islamic Union is established, there will be no more constant devastation and cries of pain in the Muslim world.

IRAK – FALLUJAH

Muslims continue to live amid troubles and difficulties in Iraq, as in many other parts of the world. One recently published study contains information that is highly significant in terms of revealing the scale of what is going on in Iraq. That report reveals how uranium was used in Fallujah in 2004, without making any distinction for civilians.

The report, published in The Independent newspaper, was produced by an 11-member team from the University of Ulster following the rise in child deaths and cancer levels since 2005. The report contains the following information:

The survey was carried out by a team of 11 researchers in January and February this year who visited 711 houses in Fallujah. A questionnaire was filled in by householders giving details of cancers, birth outcomes and infant mortality... The report showed, 4 folds increase in cancer among the general population and 12 folds increase among the children below 14. Dr Chris Busby said it is difficult to pin down the exact cause of the cancers and birth defects. He added that "to produce an effect like this, some very major mutagenic exposure must have occurred in 2004 when the Fallujah attacks happened".

Dr Busby says that while he cannot identify the type of armaments used by the Marines, the extent of genetic damage suffered by inhabitants suggests the use of uranium in some form. Researchers found a 38-fold increase in leukemia, a ten-fold increase in female breast cancer and significant increases in lymphoma and brain tumors in adults. At Hiroshima survivors showed a 17-fold increase in leukemia, but in Fallujah Dr Busby says what is striking is not only the greater prevalence of cancer but the speed with which it was affecting people.

Mr. Adnan Oktar’ıs statement about these savage practices in Fallujah reads:

“This is also a move by the system of the dajjal. People wonder where the dajjal is. The dajjal sheds blood and they still wonder if it exists. The dajjal kills their mother and father and they still wonder, “where is he?” The dajjal demolishes their good name and honor, and they still wonder if it exists. Well, the dajjal is here. You can see it is active in Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere. Insha’Allah.” (From Mr. Adnan Oktar’s live interview on 31 July 2010 on Kocaeli TV)

To delay bringing about Islamic union when mosques in Pattani are raided by Thai troops and Muslims martyred as they pray, when Muslims are ruthlessly martyred, with no distinction made between men, women, children or the elderly, when Muslims are shot in the head during the act of praying, and to behave as if no such thing were happening, will incur a heavy responsibility in the Sight of Allah.

Thai troops detaining Pattani Muslim young people and men, laying them down naked in the streets and handcuffing their arms behind their backs. The people of Pattani, who have been Muslim since the 15th century, are exposed to oppression and violence every day.

THAILAND-PATTANI

The oppression and violence to which Muslims in Pattani, an autonomous region affiliated to Thailand, are subjected is little known to the world public. But this terrible persecution in these fertile and wealthy lands in Southeast Asia has been going on for some 200 years.

The persecution of the Pattani Muslims began with the Rama dynasty that took over the Pattani administration in 1782. This dynasty made Bangkok the capital and established a centralized administration. It was then that the conflict between the Pattani Muslims and the local people known as the Siamese broke out. Many Pattani towns were burned down and ruined during the conflict, many military defensive positions were destroyed and some 4000 Pattani Muslims were taken captive by the Siamese.

The Siamese inflicted terrible tortures on the Muslims they took captive. They sewed their ears and legs together with a strong cord made of a kind of hemp. The Muslims they brought to Bangkok under that ghastly torture were put to work as slaves digging ditches with no tools or equipment. The sultan of Pattani was savagely killed by the Siamese at the end of the fighting. After the war, Pattani was divided into 7 regions by Thailand and forced to pay taxes and spent the next 70 years under total Siamese rule.

In 1909, the Siamese gave Pattani a kind of nominal independence, but the oppression by the Thai administration continued at the same pace as before. The Muslim Pattani rose up time and time again for full independence, but were savagely put down every time. There was a huge increase in migration to Malaysia at that time.

The Thai administration followed a policy of pressure and assimilation aimed at destroying the Islamic identity of the Pattani people. The first measure was to completely ban the activities of Muslim educational institutions in 1932. In 1944, a wide-ranging campaign of annihilation was initiated, with the leaders of the Pattani Muslims and their families being savagely slaughtered by Buddhists. It was forbidden to obey Islamic laws or engage in Islamic worship, while Buddhist beliefs were also imposed on the people. Buddhism was forcibly taught in schools, and Muslim students were even forced to act according to Buddhist teachings.

The Thai administration also perpetrated terrible mass killings of Muslims at various times. In 1944, 125 Muslim families were burned alive in the Belukar Samak region alone. The Thai administration’s policies of assimilation manifested themselves in all spheres of life. Many mosques in Pattani were torn down.

Eminent Muslim scholars were martyred for suspicious reasons in health institutions established by the Thai regime and unsolved killings and disappearances became part of the Pattani people’s daily lives.

BURMESE – MYANMAR

Muslims, who make up some 15% of the population of Myanmar are a blessing and bounty for the state. However, reports from the region show that our Muslim brothers in the region are unable to enjoy the respect, love, security and peace they deserve. Muslims, who largely inhabit the Arakan region, are under severe pressure, as shown in reports drawn up by many international bodies. The anti-Muslim campaign that grew rapidly during the 20th century cost the lives of 100,000 Muslims; hundreds of thousands of people were either crippled or forced from their lands during a massacre in Arakan in 1942.

The “Burmese Socialist Party Program” drawn up by a new administration in 1962 almost entirely did away with Muslims’ religious rights and freedoms, and they were prevented from living by their faith as they saw fit. This ended in the closure of all Islamic educational institutions and mosques, and going on the pilgrimage, performing sacrifices, praying en masse and other religious observances were banned. In addition, arrests in violation of the laws and human rights, and the torture that accompanies them, as confirmed by international bodies, obliged Muslims to leave Myanmar.

According to reports issued by human rights organizations, 20,000 Arakan Muslims were martyred in 1962-1984. Hundreds of women were raped and just about all Muslims’ belongings confiscated.

In January 1992 it emerged that 700 members of the Muslim minority in Myanmar had been strangled to death near the border with Bangladesh. In 1994, more than 1000 Muslims were martyred by execution without trial.

These unjust and violent practices continued after the 1990s, and in 1992 200,000 Muslims wishing to save their lives were forced to seek refuge in Bangladesh. A poor Islamic country, Bangladesh welcomed the refugees from Myanmar, but finds it difficult to help with food and accommodation.

Because means of communication are limited, the internet is closely monitored and those journalists who manage to enter the region are prevented from collecting and transmitting information, our Muslim brothers in Myanmar find it difficult to make their voices heard. But those reports and pictures that occasionally make their way out reveal the huge scale of the oppression and injustice going on.

All Muslims Have an Urgent Duty to Strive to Establish Turkish-Islamic Union if the Suffering in the World is to End

NEPAL

Nepal shares its borders with India and China, and under the influence of these countries has for years been applying a repressive policy toward Muslims. More than a million Muslims live in the country, 80% of whose population are Hindu and 10% Buddhist.

Nepal used to be officially Hindu and was a monarchy until 2008. In that year the monarchy came to an end and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal was founded. Until 2008, Nepalese Muslims had no rights at all, and their religious identities were denied by the Nepalese monarchy. But as soon as the new administration came to power it announced it would treat Muslims with understanding and even fulfill certain of their demands. Yet fanatical Hindus were uneasy at this democratic approach of the new government and the official adoption of laicism, and stepped up their acts of violence against Muslims and carried out a string of fascist attacks. These racist fascists opened their attacks with the mosques; in March 2008 they hurled four bombs at a mosque in Biratnagar in which more than 50 Muslims were praying, thus causing the martyrdom of three Muslims and dozens more to be injured. In the time that followed, many mosques in the towns of Biratnagar and Bukraha, which have substantial Muslim populations, were attacked by radical, racist Hindu organizations. In 2004, these racist groups set fire to houses, workplaces, associations and mosques belonging to Muslims.

The oppression of Nepalese Muslims by these fascist organizations is still going on. Nepalese Muslims are constantly being harassed by racist Hindus and are engaged in a major struggle to preserve their religion and are trying to survive as Muslims despite all the pressure on them. In particular, Nepalese people who have converted to Islam from Hinduism are subjected to intense pressure from both their families and society as a whole.

There is no doubt that the instances cited throughout this article are just one small example of what is happening in Iraq, Pakistan, Burma, Pattani and many other places. The great majority of Muslims, particularly those in Palestine, the unhealed wound of the Islamic world, have been oppressed and pressurized just about everywhere for the last 100 years or so. Reports of Muslims being martyred or persecuted somewhere in the world, come in just about every day. And these reports once again show how essential it is for the Islamic world to act in unison.
Our Prophet (saas) has foretold this oppression that Muslims may confront in the End Times we are living in now and has also given Muslims advice about what to do when that happens. He imparted the glad tidings that Allah will free the Islamic world and all mankind from the scourges of the system of the dajjal in the End Times by sending Hazrat Mahdi (as). According to the hadiths and statements by Islamic scholars, Hazrat Mahdi (as) will start his work as of Hijri 1400 and will wage an intellectual struggle that will totally silence the weapons of the system of the dajjal; Darwinism and materialism. He will unite the fragmented Islamic world and will be instrumental in the moral values of Islam coming to rule the world. One of the most important things that our Muslim brother who are wondering how they can contribute to Hazrat Mahdi’s (as) great struggle can do is to improve the brotherhood among Muslims, strengthen their love and friendship and work for the unity of the Islamic world. In the Qur'an Allah commands the Muslims to be united. He says that if they are not united they will lose their spiritual power and be crushed and defeated:

“Those who are unbelievers are the friends and protectors of one another. If you do not act in this way there will be turmoil in the land and great corruption. (Surat al-Anfal, 73)

What Muslims must therefore do as a matter of urgency, in this most intense period of the End Times when all the ranks of the system of the dajjal are oppressing the Muslims in union, is to unite. For the corruption in the world to come to an end, believers must obviously be one another’s friends, allied together, and act in unity and unison. The Turkish-Islamic world must demand that unity. Someone who does not demand unity is asking for division, and dividing is no use to the Turkish-Islamic world. MUSLIMS’ STRENGTH AND POWER AND INTERESTS ALL LIE IN BEING UNITED.

The Oppression Faced by Our Muslim Brothers Will Come to an End under the Leadership of Hazrat Mahdi (as)

Almighty Allah, Who fills and empties the world between the heavens and earth with clouds, and in an instant stills the storms of the sea, and in an hour in spring creates samples of the summer and in an hour in summer creates a winter storm, such an ALL-POWERFUL ONE OF GLORY CAN ALSO SCATTER THE DARKNESS OF THE WORLD OF ISLAM BY MEANS OF HAZRAT MAHDI (AS). HE HAS PROMISED THIS, AND CERTAINLY HE WILL CARRY OUT HIS PROMISE.
(Letters, Twenty Ninth Letter, Seventh Section, p.514)

Bediüzzaman has said that our Lord, the Great and Glorious, will put an end to the days of irreligion and persecution through Hazrat Mahdi (as). He reminds us that our Lord is mighty enough to bring this about, in the same way that He creates a summer tempest in an hour, or a sea storm, filling the skies with clouds in a matter of seconds. Bediüzzaman says that this promise is true and will definitely be made good. By Allah’s leave, Hazrat Mahdi (as) will be the individual charged with putting an end to the persecution and trials facing the Islamic world, and will influence the whole world through his work.
