Sean Christopher Ali Stone was born in New York City on December 29, 1984.

Sean Ali Stone, the son of famous film director Oliver Stone, is an American film director, producer, cinematographer, screenwriter and actor.

He has grown up in the world of cinema, and since his childhood he has been in twelve films directed by his father, Oliver Stone, more than any other actor/actress Oliver Stone has worked with.

Sean Stone majored in American History, studying at Oxford and Princeton University; he graduated from Princeton in 2006, after completing his thesis on the 'New World Order'. Since then, he has worked with diverse organizations such as Save The Children in Somalia and the gang prevention program Unity One in Los Angeles.

Sean Stone began his filmmaking career by shooting additional footage for his father's documentaries, and worked with his father in directing the behind-the-scenes features for some of his films. Stone is currently developing multiple productions, including co-productions in Iran and Brazil.

Sean Ali Stone embraced Islam in February, 2012. Following his vow, he said in a news conference, "It's a mistake to believe that Islam is antagonistic towards Judaism and Christianity. What we need is to understand each other's beliefs and to establish dialogue. The most important thing is I hope I can help Americans to understand the true nature of Islam. I feel good when I enter a mosque. I believe there is only one God."
